It has been a month and two weeks since my last job, because I promised to document this journey and be transparent. Let me share a few lessons and how the journey is going so far.
Let me start by saying, I dreaded these moments. As at August, 2026, when I made the decision to not job hunt but focus on the Vic-Norah brand, I was shaky and unsure. I kept asking myself, “how will you pay salary, fund the daily household expenses and still cater to yourself?”
The simple answer was “I don’t know” but there was something I was certain of, I will work daily to ensure the Vic-Norah brand excels. But boy, I did not know the amount of work I would be putting in. Well, at the time of typing this, it is October 2026 and the only thing that I have to worry about is how to satisfy my clients and build a brand that stands the test of time.
My focus has mainly been on the Vic-Norah brand. Sometimes, I wonder how I would have built this brand if I got a job and spent most of the time in that job.
I still don’t have all the answers but I am certain that this is my plan A and the only plan that I have to make work. No retreat, no surrender…
So here are the lessons I have noted on this journey…
- You don’t have to have all the answers but you do have to make the choice to move forward regardless.
- Most disappointments are a re-direction. Make the most out of any situation you are in.
- The ball is always in your court, control it. You have the power.
- If you are ever unsure on the step to take, take the one in front of you then take another, as long as you are moving, you will meet your luck.
- Challenges are what shape us, build us and sometimes, bring out the best in us.
- If you really want to make Plan A work, make sure there is no plan B
If you read this far, thank you for going on this transformational journey with me.
I will be speaking to you on the next issue… See ya.
